The dense fog that descended over the Louisville area is beginning to lift. In many areas, visibility has been below a quarter of a mile.
The National Weather Service says the lowest areas of visibility have been the Louisville Metro area, La Grange, and Hardinsburg, Kentucky along with Jasper, French Lick, Salem, and Corydon, Indiana.
The foggy conditions slowed traffic throughout much of the Metro area. Even by 9:30, the fog was thick enough that the tops of many buildings in downtown Louisville were barely visible, and you could only see about halfway across the Ohio River from Louisville's Waterfront.
