ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (AP) - A theater in Hardin County has won an award after reopening earlier this year.
Historic State Theater Executive Director Dana Beth Lyddan says years of hard work on the theater are starting to pay dividends.
The theater won best in design earlier this week at the inaugural Kentucky Main Street Awards, held at the Grand Theatre in Frankfort.
Elizabethtown's entry was 1 of 3 finalists statewide, and it beat out projects in Maysville and Nicholasville.
The award recognized the theater's art deco style and murals that adorn the walls.
The theater reopened in May and has been showing a few movies each month with a heavy focus on older films and movie classics.
