HARLAN, Ky. (AP) - Police have arrested a woman for allegedly setting forest fires in southeastern Kentucky that burned several acres and put homes in danger.

Kentucky State Police on Tuesday charged Rosetta Stanton after a trooper reported that he saw the woman walking down the road near her home in Harlan County setting small fires about every 10 feet.

The Harlan Daily Enterprise reported that Trooper James Earl Hensley said the fires got out of hand quickly and turned into 20-foot waves of flames in the mountains.

The 61-year-old woman was charged with willfully setting fires and first-degree wanton endangerment. Stanton was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center with bond set at $12,000.
