It was a scary moment Friday afternoon at Bowman Field when a single-engine plane went off a runway.  It happened about 2:45 as the Piper Malibu was landing on Runway 24 near Dutchmans Lane.

The plane skidded and ran off the end of the runway.

The pilot and one passenger were the only people aboard, and they were not hurt.  The pilot has been identified as Dennis W. Crum of Prospect, who is not related to Hall of Fame basketball coach Denny Crum.

The FAA, as is usual in such cases, will investigate.
