A history-making baseball artifact has been discovered right here in Louisville.

The Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory found a bat record card for George "Mule" Suttles, a standout in the Negro Leagues.

The artifact was found in some old records, and the museum's curator says it is proof that Louisville Slugger made bats for the Negro Leagers.

Before now the museum has never had any proof of bats actually being made for the Negro League because very little information was kept about it.

Dan Cohen of the Louisville Slugger Museum says, "The African Americans had a league all their own on par with all the major leagues in terms of talent and skill, and we're proud to have been a part of that."

The Museum and Factory have recreated Mule's bat and added it to the bat vault.
